About Kularts
Founded in 1985, Kularts is the premier presenter of contemporary and tribal Pilipino arts in the United States. We are a not-for-profit arts organization based in San Francisco, California. Our mission is to inform and expand the understanding of American Pilipino culture and preserve the spirit and integrity of ancient Pilipino art forms. We produce innovative artistic works, foster mentorship among emerging and established artists, facilitate local and international collaborations; design and implement educational outreach programs for elementary through college age students; lead cultural tours to the Philippines, and more.

Kularts' Key Program Components:

KULARTS PRESENTS showcases contemporary and tribal Pilipino art through works by local American Pilipino and international Philippine artists. From the new world aesthetics of emerging and accomplished Pilipino American artists in POMO (Post Modern Performance Project) to the page-to-stage programs in Pinay Stories, to the transnational activities of the Philippine Master Artists In Residency Program (PMAIR), to the Parol Lantern Festival & Parade, and to exhibitions at Bayanihan Center, Kularts engages the public in contemporary and tribal Pilipino arts and culture through full-length concerts, evenings of shared programming, and through visual arts exhibits & installations.

POMO, (Post-Modern American Pilipino Performance Project) - a curated annual concert of shared programming highlighting the American experiences of the Pilipino diaspora.
PAGE-TO-STAGE PROGRAM is an artist's mentorship program that guides emerging Pilipino American artists from the creative to performance phase.

Presented by the Filipino American Development Foundation (FADF) and Kularts, this massive celebration includes a joyful march from Bayanihan Community Center to the Yerba Buena Gardens to the warm glow of the star-shaped Filipino Parol Lantern. Parol-making workshops begin in October.
PURO ARTE FESTIVAL is held by Pilipino American artists, academics, and community members to discuss Pilipino American aesthetics and arts/cultural histories; share information and build skills around the processes of creating, presenting, and funding work; and network and explore artistic collaborations with other participants.
VISUAL ARTS EXHIBITS & INSTALLATIONS are curated exhibits at the Bayanihan Community Center.
EDUCATION ARTS PROGRAM educates diverse American communities in Pilipino art forms and their influence on contemporary performing arts in both school and community settings.
