Save the Date – World Premiere of Alleluia Panis’ INCARCERATED 6×9 this May, 2018

February 13, 2018 in Incarcerated 6x9, Uncategorized

San Francisco Arts Commission’s 2017-18 Artistic Legacy Grant Recipient, Alleluia Panis is gearing up for the World Premiere of her most recent dance-media piece INCARCERATED 6×9: coming to Bindlestiff Studio this May 4-6 & 11-13, 2018.

Created and choreographed by Panis along with fellow collaborators, media artist, Wilfred Galila and composer, Rachel Lastimosa – 6×9 explores the hopes, delusions and the ultimate will to survive in the loneliest, most bitter place on the planet. Inspired by the real-life incarceration accounts of young Pinoy Americans between 1966-2008, it is a work of creative non-fiction located in the near future 2048, highlighting the state of humanity among Pilipinos in the United States,150 years after the US annexation of the Philippines.

The trailer for Alleluia’s FIRST Film – She, Who Can See – is now available!

September 17, 2017 in Other Work by Alleluia Panis, She Who Can See

Big congratulations to our very own Alleluia ‘Manai’ Panis!

Not only is she the recipient of the first-ever San Francisco Arts Commission’s Artistic Legacy Grant (*friendly reminder: RSVP below to attend the the special presentation in her honor: Tuesday, Sept 26 – 7 pm during the SFAC grants convening at Herbst Theatre*).

She also finished her first film!! SHE, WHO CAN SEE tells the haunting story of Salima and Nico. When the powerful waves of Salima’s  shamanic inheritance surge into the daily realities of their middle-class life, their refusal to succumb to conventional western medical diagnosis of mental illness, plunge them into the disorienting world of  visions, dreams, and ancestral spirits.

Great work and congrats to Alleluia’s talented team: co-director, film extraordinaire Wilfred Galila; composer Florante Aguilar and the amazing dancers: Alexandria Diaz DeFato, Greg Manalo, June Arellano, Jonathan Mercado, Sammay Dizon and Rebecca Fazio!
