Kularts is planning our next round of photo shoots for Kodakan, our picture-taking project that explores Pilipino identity over time. We’re proud of the long legacy of Pilipinos in San Francisco (and the surrounding area). Do you have family photos you’d like to share? They might inspire our artists, and may even be included in an exhibition at the San Francisco Public Library, October 2013-April 2014.

We’re looking for photos of Pilipinos in and around San Francisco, taken before 1980. Please select photos that reflect the following themes:

  • Love/romance (couples, engagement photos, photos sent home to prospective bride, etc)
  • Pilipinos at Play: casual social settings (at play, eating out, on the street)
  • Pilipinos at Work (in uniform, on the job, etc)
  • Music (professional or amateur)
  • Exploring San Francisco (with obvious city sites/landmarks or views of the city)
  • Veteranos & Pilipino “warriors” (Veterans, activists, escrima/martial arts fighters, etc.)
