Yerba Buena Night LogoKularts Presents Kodakan at Yerba Buena Night
Filipino Portraits: Past & Present
With Music by Kulintronica

Saturday | October 13, 2012 |  4-10pm

Jessie Square & Yerba Buena Gardens (MAP)

Kularts presents Kodakan: large-scale media projections by artists Cece Carpio & Wilfred Galila juxtapose vintage images of SF Filipino-Americans with photos/video images of the contemporary community to challenge long-held notions of Filipinos blending in or assimilating. Celebrating a community with deep roots in the SOMA, this work examines perceptions of what/who is Filipino. The 10 minute video will loop through, to the accompaniment of music by Ron Quesada’s Kulintronica, a fusion of traditional kulintang and electronic music, combined with live guitar looping.

Yerba Buena Night is a free outdoor evening of public art, music, dance, and performance. The festival is FREE to the public to bring art within everyone’s reach, cast a new light on a neighborhood with 24 museums and galleries, and generally offer everyone a fun time! Part of Yerba Buena Weekend, Yerba Buena Night is mainly adult-oriented and encourages interaction and participation. Hope you can join us!
