“Filipinos are everywhere. Filipinos are nowhere.” – Poet Joël Tan.

Filipino-Americans are the second largest population of Asian Americans in the United States, yet remain under-represented socially, politically, and culturally. Kularts is creating community-informed public art displays that speak to our complex experiences and generate social and cultural visibility for Filipino Americans. Challenging notions of Filipinos blending in or assimilating, this project celebrates our enduring cultural contributions and accomplishments.

The Making Visible project is series of participatory public art events that gives visual presence to the Pilipino community—both to ourselves and to the general public. Kularts is honored to work with a host of talented artists on project components, including:

Many thanks to our project partners, the Filipino American Development Foundation, and the San Francisco Public Library.
